Accelerating disbursement of public investment and relaying tourism

Socio-economic situation of Khanh Hoa Province in the first 6 months of 2020 met a lot of difficulties due to impacts of the Covid-19 epidemic. At the 11th session of the provincial People's Council, the delegates requested the provincial People's Committee proposing solutions to accelerate the disbursement of public investment, boost tourism stimulus, etc. to partly help to recover the province’s economy soon.

 

At the meeting, many delegates asked the provincial People's Committee to take measures to accelerate the progress of public-invested projects to motivate socio-economic development and minimize difficulties due to the Covid-19 epidemic. In which, it is necessary to consider the responsibilities of the departments and branches that are playing the role of investors of the projects.

 

In order to accelerate the disbursement of public investment, the Provincial People's Committee has had many solutions, including directing the completion of tallying clearance volumes and verifying the sources of land, determine compensated land. People's committees at district level have approved plans, paid the compensation, done support and resettlement of the projects as prescribed, and directed investors to strengthen coordination with relevant units to solve problems in clearance compensation and investment procedures. According to the provincial leaders, in the coming time, they will resolutely handle, reduce, adjust investment capital in projects and works that are behind schedule to projects that have good disbursement schedule and need additional capital.

 

 

 

At the meeting, delegates of the People's Council highly appreciated the recovery of tourism activities in the province. However, the delegates said that tourism industry of  the provincial is still facing many difficulties, so it is necessary to have the support, as well as take advantage of the break time to improve the quality of services and adjust the international guest market. “The provincial People's Committee should have policies to support companies participating in stimulating tourism, attracting domestic tourists to Khanh Hoa, especially reducing the costs for tourism businesses. The culture and tourism should organize special activities to attract tourists. The province should regularly pay attention to the price of catering, environment, order, transportation, etc.", suggested Le Thi Mai Lien.

 

According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, in the first 6 months of 2020, the economic indicators of the province were low compared to the same period. Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in the first 6 months decreased by 12.02% over the same period last year; The index of industrial production only increased by 0.68%; total retail sales of goods and services decreased by 32.7%; tourism revenue decreased by 71.8%; commodity export turnover decreased by 19.9%; domestic revenue was 35.3% of the estimate.

Regarding the relay for tourism, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan said that the provincial departments  try to organize activities to boost tourism. As planned, in early August 2020, the Department of Culture and Sports will organize a show of folklore arts, the People's Committee of Khanh Son District will organize the second Fruit Festival. In September, IPP Group will organize a super sale week at Ana Mandara Marina, Nha Trang City... Along with stimulating domestic tourism, the tourism of the province are also ready to welcome international visitors back. It’s necessary to remake the tourist map to introduce the best and newest points to visitors, train to improve service quality and adjust customer sources. He said, currently, a number of projects in Bai Dai, Cam Lam and Vinh Hoa ward, Nha Trang are restarting very actively. Large tourism complexes will be formed here to bring more attraction for Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. “In the long term, what should be done to make tourism to develop sustainably is extending visitors’ stay in Nha Trang, attracting them to come back to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa for many times,”, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan emphasized.
