The tournament is joined by more than 250 male and female players of 115 teams from many provinces and cities over the country, including Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Hoa, Bac Giang, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, etc.

The players are split into seven age groups, from 7 to 20, competing in the events of individual’s and team’s standard chess, rapid chess, blitz chess, and traditional chess (for the players who hadn’t got medals at national and international tournaments before July 1).
The players play in a single round robin format in the event which has lower than ten players and in a Swiss format (seven or nine games) in the events including 11 to over 26 players.
The tournament ends on July 12.
