Since 2012 to the end of 2021, Khanh Hoa’s sports sector and teams had quite many difficulties in recruiting and keeping sports talent because the money levels for daily meals for coaches and athletes were too low, from VND70,000 to 110,000/day.

Under Resolution No.21, the money for daily meals for the coaches and athletes of the provincial sports teams during practice is VND180,000/day; for the provincial junior teams is VND160,000/day and talent teams is VND130,000/day. District, commune and city sports teams are given VND150,000/day during training period and VND220/day during competition period. Sports teams of athletes with disabilities and teams of ethnic athletes are offered VND240,000/day for training and VND320,000/day for competition. These levels of money are VND60-70,000 higher than the old ones stipulated by Resolution No. 13 issued in 2012.

Although the current applicable monetary policy of Khanh Hoa’s sports sector is still not relatively high compared to the increases in price and the general level of the whole country, it is a great motivation encouraging the province’s high-achievement sports coaches and athletes to put effort into practicing for the upcoming National Sports Festival, as said by Nguyen Tuan Thanh, deputy director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports.

With the newly provided fund for sports, the provincial Department of Culture and Sports has directed the provincial Sports Technique Training Center to make detailed investment plan for Khanh Hoa athletes who won prizes at the 2021 national tournaments in order to help them practice to keep good form. Reportedly, Khanh Hoa’s sports delegation sets a target of continuing to rank 22nd at the 9th National Sports Festival.
