Rendezvous for Chinese chess players in Nha Trang

Ky Huu Nha Trang Chinese Chess Club is an outstanding club among quite many recently-established Chinese chess clubs and club-houses in Nha Trang. It has become a rendezvous for Chinese chess and blindfold chess players in Nha Trang City although it has just been established for more than 3 months. This place is also the venue for many chess competitions in Khanh Hoa Province.

Last June, Khanh Hoa Provincial Chinese Chess Association organized its second congress of the 2020-2025 tenure; elected the new executive committee of 15 people. The head office of the association is at 39A Cuu Long Street, which is also the place of Ky Huu Nha Trang Chinese Chess Club. Since its establishment, Ky Huu Nha Trang Chinese Chess Club has held one contest to select players for the provincial Chinese chess team and five competitions for strong Chinese chess players in the province. Most recently, the club held two competitions for four players namely Le Thanh Cong, Luu Minh Hiep, Duong Duc Tri, and Le Huu Phuoc. They are considered as the most excellent Chinese Chess players in Khanh Hoa at present.

Besides the above-mentioned players, people who love to play Chinese chess can go to the club to learn and exchange experience with other experienced players of Khanh Hoa such as excellent Chinese chess player, Dr. Tran Cam Long, 70-year-old Luong Hai Duong, and some players who used to win medals at the provincial Chinese chess contests and human Chinese chess festivals.

Khanh Hoa Provincial Chinese Chess Association has five branches located in Nha Trang City, Ninh Hoa Town, Dien Khanh District, Cam Ranh City and Van Ninh District. More than 150 members of the association are practicing at Chinese chess clubs and club-houses over the province. However, the uneven quality of operation of these clubs and club-houses has partly affected the Chinese chess movement in Khanh Hoa. As reported by Huynh Minh Doan, permanent vice-chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Chinese Chess Association and head of Ky Huu Nha Trang Chinese Chess Club, the association has strengthened its executive committee and improved its head office. This is expected to be the basis for the association to continue promoting the development of Khanh Hoa’s Chinese Chess.

In the future, in order to promote the development of the province’s Chinese chess movement, apart from organizing quarterly contests to select players for the provincial Chinese chess team, Ky Huu Nha Trang Chinese Chess Club will invite Vietnamese well-known Chinese chess players, for example Lai Ly Huynh and Trenh A Sang, to compete with Khanh Hoa’s players.
