Attractive football tournament for U13 players

Good preparation and determination to get a high result of the participating teams and enthusiastic cheer from many football fans were the outstanding features of Khanh Hoa Province’s 2020 U13 football tournament.

Following the success of last year's tournament, Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports continued to hold the 2020 edition from July 15 to 19. Eight teams from public football centers and localities over the province took part in the 2020 tournament. Khanh Hoa Province in recent years has seen a strong development of football movement among players under 9 to 15 years old. Therefore, the maintenance of this U13 football tournament helps young players to have an interesting playground to share their passion for football as well as helps to promote the development of football movement among children and teenagers in localities, schools, and clubs across the province.

In the second consecutive U13 football tournament, the process of organization and quality of participants were highly appreciated. As said by Huynh Van Hao, physical training teacher at Van Thang 2 Primary School (Van Ninh District) and coach of Van Ninh team, most of the participating players have practiced football and been trained at local public football centers. Therefore, there wasn’t a wide gap among the teams. Most of Van Ninh players have learned to play football at Thien An Van Ninh. They only had more than one month of practicing and preparing for this tournament due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Thanks to having a long time playing with each other since around 11 years old, Van Ninh players could understanding each other well and got a quite good result at the province’s 2020 U13 tournament.

Phan Van Thanh, physical training teacher at To Hap Junior High School (Khanh Son District) and coach of Khanh Son team, also said that this year’s participating teams performed a higher competence compared to last year’s one. Khanh Son players, who competed at last year’s U11 tournament, were more mature and showed high determination at the 2020 edition. Khanh Son District, a mountainous area, doesn’t have as many and good facilities and playgrounds as other localities such as Nha Trang and Dien Khanh. This has partly put football players in Khanh Son at a disadvantage compared with players of other localities.

The good response and cheer from spectators also contributed to the success of Khanh Hoa’s U13 football tournament. Each of the matches attracted hundreds of spectators. This is a driving force for Khanh Hoa’s sports sector to continue to maintain, expand the scale, and improve the quality of the province’s U13 football tournament in the future.
