The first round of V-League 2019 will officially kick off on February 21. This edition of V-League sees some new things, which promise to increase the attractiveness and quality of the matches.

The most noticeable thing in the V-League 2019 is the joining of many foreign players. Since the 2019 season, V-League permits each team to have one more foreign player on the team’s roster, which means each team can play with three foreign players and one naturalized player. The new regulation caused controversy. Some people said that one more foreign player on the roster will allow the teams to have more choices. On the other hand, many people stated that the appearances of foreign players would affect the chances of domestic players, especially the young ones. There were also other opinions that the usage of foreign players depends on the teams.

Sanna Khanh Hoa – Bien Vietnam (Sanna KH-BVN) through the previous seasons proved that the foreign players could play effectively and harmoniously with domestic players. In the 2015- and 2016 season, Sanna KH-BVN, which was just promoted to V-League and was considered as an underdog, signed two foreign players, Zarour and Uche. Zarour had played at French second division; Uche was not kept by Than Quang Ninh after the 2014 season. After joining in, these two foreign players played well and partly helped the young players of Sanna KH-BVN to perform more confidently. Sanna KH-BVN stayed up that season. After Uche left, Sanna KH-BVN signed French player Youssouf Toure, who also performed impressively. This year’s season, the team receives the joining of Romanian forward Petrisor Voinea, who used to play for two other V-League teams - Ninh Binh and Song Lam Nghe An.

Another new thing at V-League 2019 is the implementation of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) at some stadiums or important matches. Refereeing has often been a matter of contention in many matches of V-League. Therefore, the appearance of VAR is hoped to assist the referees in making decisions as well as correcting and clarifying decisions.

Apart from these two new things, for a better quality and more exciting V-League, it also requires more factors such as infrastructure and facilities.
