The participants were more than 110 elderly people from Nha Trang, Cam Ranh City, Dien Khanh District, Van District, and Khanh Hoa Veterans’ Association. At the tournament, the participants competed in badminton, table-tennis, and Chinese chess which are among the most favorite sports of the elderly in Khanh Hoa.
The players in badminton and table-tennis made up more than half of all participants. Therefore, the players of these two events were divided into smaller groups of age. This division helped the competitions to be more exciting.

Nguyen Van Nuoi, aged 84, of Cam Ranh City displayed remarkable stamina despite his age. He won the bronze medal in table-tennis event. “I have played table-tennis since I was 13 years old and achieved many medals at the local sports tournaments. I am old now but still regularly play this sport,” said Nuoi.
This year’s tournament, as said by Nguyen Minh Dat, Director of Khanh Hoa Sports Services Center and member of the tournament’s organization committee, received positive attention from many localities and the elderly over the province. Dat hoped that the future tournaments will attract the participation of the two districts in mountainous area, Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh.
At the end of the 2018 sports tournament for elderly people, the organization committee offered 18 medal sets to the outstanding players and teams. Nha Trang came first in team’s category while Van Ninh finished second. There was no third place.
