As said by Tran Phuc Thao, Deputy Director of Thanh Thanh Trading and Tourist Co., Ltd. and associate head of the tournament’s organization committee, the tournament is an activity to celebrate the National Day of Vietnam (September 2). It also serves to honor the one-time national and Khanh Hoa football players who made contributions to Vietnam’s football and Khanh Hoa’s football.
The tournament is expected to draw the interest of the sponsors, which will help to promote the football movement of Khanh Hoa. This is also a good chance for the football supporters in Khanh Hoa to see the competitions between many former football stars of Vietnam and other countries.

Vietnam has three representative teams at this tournament, which are A&T Nha Trang, S&A Saigon and team of former national football athletes. The team of former national football athletes comprises of the one-time golden generation of Vietnamese football: Do Khai, Hong Son, Huynh Duc, Minh Phuong, Tai Em, and so on. Meanwhile, the two teams of Khanh Hoa, A&T Nha Trang and S&A Saigon, include the former outstanding athletes who used to play for Khanh Hoa team in the domestic tournaments, such as Huu Dang, Dang Dao, Nguyen Ty, and Hoang Son. The other teams include Thailand Port, SFA Thailand (Thailand), Fujian, Guangzhou (China), South Korea, and Cambodia. The teams also send their one-time football stars to the tournament.
The international football tournament for former players is hosted by Thanh Thanh Trading and Tourist Co., Ltd and was approved by Vietnam Football Federation and Asian Football Confederation. According to Tran Phuc Thao, the tournament is organized at great expense for the organization process, travel, accommodations for the participants, coaches, and so on. The tournament are provided financial support by Thai Duong Auto, Saigon Beer, Khanh Viet Corporation, Sanna Khanh Hoa, Mai Sinh Swallows’ Village, Hai Dang Group, Ana Marina Nha Trang, Arema House and other 20 companies. Thanks to the support from these units and businesses, Thanh Thanh Trading and Tourist Co., Ltd can successfully organize such a large-scale tournament.
