With 63 points, Vietnamese beauty ranks 48th at 2008 Grand Slam Ranking launched by Globabeauties, up seven spots over last year.
The Grand Slam ranking is a system which makes possible to measure the performance of each participant country in the five most acclaimed beauty pageants in the world, namely Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Earth and Miss Tourism Queen International.
63 points of Vietnam include 12 points recorded by Miss Universe Vietnam Nguyen Thuy Lam at Miss Universe 2008 and 51 by Duong Truong Thien Ly at Miss World 2008. Thuy Lam was in the top 15 of Miss Universe 2008 while Thien Ly won Miss People's Choice title at Miss World 2008 and was highly appreciated by bankers initially. Cao Thuy Duong at Miss International and Chung Thuc Quyen at Miss Tourism Queen International get no points. This year, Vietnam sent no one to Miss Earth.
Venezuela remains on the top of the Grand Slam Ranking, followed by India (2nd) and the United States (3rd).
Winning the Miss World 2008 title, Miss Russia Ksenia Sukhinova made her country climb 3 positions, ending the year in the 7th place.
Also in top 10, China is still graded at the 8th while Philippines drops to the 10th from the 5th.
