In recent years, the cultural life of the people in Khanh Vinh District has much improved. They have a good sense of shaping a comfortable life and keeping their cultural identity.
There are nearly 38,000 people in Khanh Vinh remote District including 6,620 families of various minority peoples, Raglai. Ede. T’rin, Kinh, Tay, Nung, Hoa...Most of the people in Khanh Vinh are poor. The movement to mobilize people to unite in building a cultural life is seen as an effective method to raise the residents’ living quality. To boost the movement, leaders of Khanh Vinh District have established a steering board of three levels, district, commune and village.
The department of Education, Health, Sports, Farmer’ Association, Women’s Union...have launched emulation campaigns such as cultural family, sport family...contributing greatly to build a good way of life for residents. The Bureau of Culture, Information, & Sports in cooperation with relevant agencies and departments held Vietnamese Family’s Day (June 28), cultural family festival, club festival of grandparents and grandchildren...
37 units in Khanh Vinh District have registered to build cultural villages. 3,865 households have registered to build cultural families. In this movement, Suoi Ca cultural village (Khanh Trung) and Suoi Thom (Khanh Trung) were granted certificates of merit by the Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee. Many families become typical cultural families such as those of Mr. Cao La Nia, Cao Xuan Dien (Khanh Phu), Cao Mo Xe (Khanh Binh), Ma Gia (Giang Ly), Y Bao (Khanh Hiep), Dinh Rieng (Lien Sang). Mr. Cao La Nia has just been selected to attend the conference to honor excellent cultural families in Hanoi.
Every effort has been taken to improve the cultural life in the locality. Many interesting activities were held such as Raglai culture festival, Charming March...Particularly, in the effort to keep the identities of the peoples in Khanh Vinh District, the Bureau of Culture, Information, & Sports has conducted a survey, and collected traditional musical instruments of the Raglai people. The residents are encouraged to conserve their cultural traditions. Traditional musical groups and sports teams have been established in Suoi Ca (Khanh Trung), Suoi Thom (Khanh Dong).
Despite the promising achievements, the improvement of cultural life in Khanh Vinh met challenges for lack of infrastructures such as amusement zones, cultural houses, stadium...These are long term issues that the local authorities has to settle to fill the gaps between lowland and mountainous areas.
