Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs has guided vocational schools in the province to effectively implement policies on vocational training and development, assisting employees at businesses in developing professionally with updated knowledge and practical skills.

More than 100 staff of Blue Sea International Joint Stock Company (Lousiane Brewhouse, Loc Tho Ward, Nha Trang City) attend a class held by Nha Trang Polytechnic College right at the company after work for nearly 1 month. “I have been working here for 15 years. My job deals with much communication, especially with foreigners. I register for a restaurant and information technology class co-held by the company and the vocational school. For nearly a month, I can get a lot of useful vocational knowledge and skills. Especially, I can learn while at work, applying what I have learned into practice. It is very practical for my work,” said Nguyen Hoai Niem, a worker at the company.

The class helps workers to attain basic knowledge such as communicative psychology and diplomatic skills; marketing and information technology application in business; English for restaurants and so on. The class combines theory and practice with hands-on training; using modern methods and information technology to improve teaching and learning efficiency.

According to the leader of Blue Sea International Joint Stock Company, the class is very essential and helpful for workers to improve professional skills but also increase the reputation of the company, thus attracting more visitors and increasing income of employees. Nearly 30 employees at Khanh Hoa Salanagane Nest Restaurant and Customer Advertising Company, Ltd. have just graduated from a cooking class held by Khanh Hoa Economics School.

Le Van, a kitchen staff of the company says, “I can get a lot of updated Asian and European cuisine cooking knowledge and skills to serve customers. Hopefully, the free training will continue and expand to benefit more employees, contributing to improving tourism services in Khanh Hoa.

Vocational training support policies boosted

775 employees at small and medium-sized enterprises are reported to be in need of training assistance in 2022. In the first 6 months of the year, vocational schools provided training for 243 workers in the fields of sewing, tourism, mechanics - welding, carpentry and informatics. Implementing the Government’s Resolution 68 dated July 1, 2021 on policies to aid employees and employers struggling due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has promptly provided counseling for the Provincial People's Committee to promulgate decisions and develop plans; directed vocational schools to promote propaganda and implement policies to support training and improve employees’ skills; and coordinate with enterprises to develop training programs tailored to the needs of businesses.

Thereby, the vocational training support policies have attracted and benefitted many businesses. Since early this year, the department has issued decisions approving vocational training assistance for 304 employees at 7 enterprises with a total support funding of more than VND1.3 billion. Businesses benefiting from training assistance have highly appreciated the effectiveness of the policies in improving employees’ capacities.

In addition, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has also implemented the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs’ Circular 32 dated December 26, 2018 on guiding vocational training support for employees working in small and medium-sized enterprises. Every year, the department conducts a survey on businesses’ demand for vocational training; and assigns vocational schools to open classes meeting businesses’ needs.

The vocational training support policies are very essential and effective to improve workers’ capacities, helping laborers to develop professionally and update their knowledge and skills, meeting production and business demands; improving the productivity and income; raising the number of trained workers in the province to 81.5%, including 27.15% with qualifications. Therefore, in the coming time, the department will continue promoting vocational training support for employees, contributing to improving the quality of human resources, according to Van Dinh Tri, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs,
