Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs held a life-journey program on March 22-23, offering bikes and life insurance contracts to needy students, helping partly ease their financial difficulties and give them opportunities for  academic pursuits.

Providing support for poor students

The family of Nguyen Truong Minh Thinh, Class 9/3, Cao Ba Quat Junior High School, Nha Trang City, is living in financial hardship. His mom does not have a stable job. The boy usually walks to school, which is nearly 2km from home. He has just been offered a bike from the "Life Journey" program. He happily said, “I often walk or take my friend for a ride to school. My parents are so busy that they rarely take me to school. From now on, I can help myself with this new bike.”

Tran Ngoc Truc, Class 6/1, Luong The Vinh Junior High School, Nha Trang City, has just received a bike. His mom Ly Thi Luy said, “We are struggling to make ends meet. We are so happy that my daughter receives the bike gift. We would like to thank for the concern and support of the local authority and sponsors."

Receiving a VND20 million life insurance contract, 12-year-old Pham Thi Dinh from Nhan Ai Orphanage, Thong Nhat Village, Cam Phuoc Dong Commune, Cam Ranh City, felt touched, saying: "Many thanks to sponsors for such a precious gift. This insurance is valid until the age of 18, helping me to cover my study expenses until I enter a university or vocational school.”

Bicycles from the "Life journey" program are truly meaningful gifts, helping poor students partly overcome difficulties and remain focused on their academic pursuits, according  to Mai Thi Quynh Tu, Deputy Director of the Provincial Nursing and Care Center for Policy Beneficiaries - Social Work.

Spreading kindness and compassion

According to Ta Hong Quang, Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs, in 2022, AIA Vietnam via the Provincial Nursing and Care Center for Policy Beneficiaries - Social Work have donated 60 bikes, 4 insurance contracts and gifts worth over VND190 million to students in the province. “Life journey” program has shown kindness by spreading happiness with support for students in need, inspiring their efforts to overcome difficulties and move forward.

In the coming time, together with the support from the State budget, social resources, the Sector of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will implement activities targeted at child protection, care and education, especially those in severely difficult circumstances, ethnic minority communities and mountainous areas to provide them with equal opportunities for comprehensive development.

The “life journey" program held by Vietnam Children’s Fund in association with Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs and AIA Life Insurance Vietnam Company (AIA Vietnam) includes the offer of bikes and gifts to support children in need. 20,000 bikes, 620 life insurance contracts and thousands of gifts have been given to disadvantaged children nationwide for more than 8 years.
