Occupational health and safety management standardization

Some enterprises in Khanh Hoa Province has focused on investing on occupational health and safety management systems to ensure labor safety. Therefore, they have been granted certificates for being in conformity with  ISO 45001:2018  requirements.

 

Developing friendly workplace

 

For over several years, French Female Apparel Development Company, Ltd., Suoi Dau Industrial  Zone, has focused on ensuring occupational health and safety, maintaining a safe and friendly workplace. A worker named Le Thi Xuan said, “We receive safety clothing and work in a cool place with air-conditioners. The company regularly provides labor safety training and assures rest periods for workers together with nutritious shift meals. Especially, since Covid-19 outbreak, the company has also implemented epidemic control procedures to protect workers from exposure to the virus.”

 

According to Vo Son, Deputy Director of French Female Apparel Development Company, Ltd., a safe and friendly working environment is also among requirements by its partners and customers. The certificate has opened more business opportunities with domestic and foreign partners.

 

Nha Trang Seafoods Joint Stock Company - F17 has also been granted the  certificate. Huynh Long Quan, Deputy Director of Nha Trang Seafoods Joint Stock Company - F17 said that European, American, Japanese, Taiwanese, South Korean and Australian markets always have high level requirements in production, processing, as well as regimes, policies, labor safety and working environment. Therefore, the employees are well-trained, fully equipped with protective gears as well as fully paid with salaries, bonuses and other shift benefits.

 

The company has invested in machinery and facilities; developing occupational health and safety management systems in accordance with the law; implementing measures to reduce and prevent risks of occupational accidents and diseases, thereby establishing a friendly and safe working environment; strictly following Covid-19 control measures.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Developing occupational health and safety systems

 

According to Van Dinh Tri, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs, the occupational health and safety at work has much improved. However, some occupational accidents and diseases have still happened, requiring the local authorities at all levels and businesses to take measures to improve working conditions to prevent work-related injury and sickness. Over the past years, the local authorities have boosted providing consultancy and support for enterprises at high risks of occupational accidents and diseases to develop occupational health and safety management systems.

 

Accordingly, enterprises have been provided consultancy to build appropriate occupational health and safety management systems, ensuring conformity to the law; taking measures to prevent and reduce risks of occupational accidents and diseases; keeping the workplace safer and more friendly. 

 

In the coming time, local authorities will enhance providing support for enterprises to develop occupational health and safety management systems, reducing costs of work-related accidents and ill health, increasing work effectiveness, avoiding violating occupational health and safety regulations as well as improving export opportunities, penetrating into international markets that require compliance with occupational health and safety management systems.

 

5 enterprises granted the certificates for being conformity with ISO 45001:2018 requirements in Khanh Hoa so far are Vina Nha Trang Engineering Joint Stock Company, Desiper Vietnam Company, Ltd., Nha Trang Seafoods - F17 Joint Stock Company, Phu Khanh Petrol Company and French Female Apparel Development Company.
