Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs is building a plan to connect “New Year for the poor” campaigns with the target to make sure all children, including the poor, enjoy a happy and fulfilled New Year, according to Pham Thi Xuan Trang, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs.

To support the festive celebration for poor children, Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs has directed Khanh Hoa Social Work Center and Children's Fund, provinces and localities to develop plans for the Lunar New Year 2021, pay visits and give gifts to children in need, from ethnic minorities and in remote areas in the province; organize entertainment activities for a large number of children while ensuring COVID-19 prevention guidance.

In preparation for the coming Lunar New Year 2021, the department plans to offer 600 gifts to disadvantaged children in the communes of Ninh Trung, Ninh Than and Ninh Thuong (Ninh Hoa Town),  each receiving 200 gifts worth VND100,000 funded by Khanh Hoa Social Work Center and Children's Fund.

Agencies in support of Khanh Nam Commune, Khanh Vinh District led by Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs will offer 150 gifts worth VND50,000 each to children at A Xay Nursery School. Besides, from the provincial budget, the department will offer gifts and financial aid to improve meals during the New Year holiday to 587 disabled children benefiting from monthly social allowance; VND250,000 each to 5 HIV/AIDS-infected children; VND200,000/child added to meals for 406 children in care at social institutions, including social support institutions and SOS Nha Trang Children’s Village.

Enterprises and local residents have shown great concern and provided assistance for poor children. The funding sources in support of children from agencies, enterprises, organizations and individuals are implemented every year through Khanh Hoa Social Work Center and Children's Fund.

On the basis of the support funding from agencies, organizations and individuals together with proposals of localities, the department builds plans, specifying eligibility criteria, number of beneficiaries and the budget for gifts; and asks localities to review and make a list of recipients.

The department will give gifts to the children named in the list certified by localities and assure liquidation documents in accordance with current regulations. All activities in support of children are required to be openly and transparently organized with the expenditure from mobilized sources complying with the regulations on receipt, management and use of expenditure by the Provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs, adds Pham Thi Xuan Trang, Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs.
