Nha Trang City Youth Union has just launched the cultivation of 20,000 mangroves to restore and preserve mangrove forests in Bay Swamp, Vinh Nguyen Ward. Pham Ngoc Thach, Secretary of Nha Trang City Youth Union says the activity is within the campaign “Pink Vacation” and “Green Military Operations”. In order to effectively implement the volunteer summer campaign, the city Youth Union has propagandized its plans among affiliations. Volunteer summer activities scheduled to take place from June to August include building 1km rural road; 1 recreational area, 1 house for the poor; providing assistance for 4,000 students taking the national high school graduation exam.

Youth Union affiliations in Khanh Hoa Province have held start-up activities for the volunteer summer campaign. Nguyen The Han, Secretary of Nha Trang University Youth Union says Nha Trang University is recruiting volunteers for the exam season support program to provide assistance for students taking the national high school graduation exam. Volunteers will join such activities as building a play area for pupils, repairing schools, offering books to children in Khanh Vinh and so on. The Youth Union of Nha Trang Tourism College will offer gifts to policy beneficiaries, revolutionary contributors and children in Ta Luong Village, To Hap Town, Khanh Son District. Volunteers of Nha Trang National College of Pedagogy will take part in cultivating trees, cementing playground, making school items, etc at SOS Nha Trang Children’s Village and Lac Long Quan High School, Khanh Vinh District in July.
Volunteering for community’s sake
Bui Hoai Nam, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Youth Union says the volunteer summer campaign themed “Khanh Hoa youth, creative and volunteering for the community”, focusing in remote areas, islands and disadvantaged coastal communes, ethnic minority communities and communes having registered for fulfilling new rural area targets by 2020. The campaign includes 5 main programs, namely “Exam season support”, “Green summer”, “Red flamboyant”, “Pink vacation" and "Green military operations” drawing a large participation of young students, teachers from universities, colleges, vocational schools, high schools; Youth Union members, young people, public servants, businesses, military forces, etc across the province. The main activity is joining new rural construction, maintaining social security and traffic safety; improving child care and so on. Groups of volunteers are expected to help inspire creativity and boost scientific and technical application in volunteering work.
The volunteer campaign schedules have been affected by COVID-19. However, Youth Union organizations are getting ready for the campaign 2020 in terms of human resources and plans. Hopefully, the volunteer summer campaign will continue providing practical aid for local communities in need,” says Bui Hoai Nam.
Basic criteria set by Khanh Hoa Youth Union for the volunteer summer campaign 2020 include repairing 15km, building 5-10km rural roads; implementing 8 Youth constructions “bright – green – clean – beautiful – civilized – safe”, maintaining 10 regular clean-up locations in 5 coastal districts and towns; building 9 recreational areas for children; repairing 20 children’s amusement areas; building 2 houses for the poor; repairing 10 schools and 10 houses, cultivating 3,000 trees, etc.
