Joining effort to protect children and prevent child abuse is the theme of the Action Month for Children 2020, says Vo Binh Tan, Vice-Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs.
 
The Action Month for Children is scheduled to take place on June 1-30, focusing on propagandizing the Children Law, Law on children’s rights, child protection, policies and programs on children protection and care; prevention of accidents, drowning and contagious diseases, namely COVID-19.
 
This year’s Action Month for Children will enhance communication activities against child marriage, school dropout and abuse; denounce child abuse or violence; promote accident and injury prevention; publicize the national hotline for child protection 111 and Khanh Hoa Social Work Center (0258).3883040; provide parenting skills, life skills for children, especially child abuse prevention skills through mass media, social networks, materials and leaflets on child protection, care and education.
 
In addition, workshops, fora and talks will be held for children to show their ideas, suggestions and aspirations to better meet the rights of children, especially ethnic minority children and those in need, promote models on protecting children’s rights such as children’s fora, children’s right clubs, programs and activities initiated and developed by children to promote their rights and build confidence in fulfilling their obligations.
 
Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs has mobilized organizations and individuals to donate to the Children’s Fund at all levels to help children in mountainous areas, from poor families in Khanh Hoa to improve health, nutrition though medical check-up, nutritious support for nursery and primary school-aged children; and organize entertaining, musical and sporting activities for children.
 
Meanwhile, the department has enhanced interdisciplinary cooperation to conduct inspection over the implementation of policies on children protection and care; boost the State’s management on social order and security; make plans to prevent child abuse crimes; detect areas at risk of drowning or traffic accidents so as to have prevention measures proactively taken to keep children safe and healthy during summer and rainy seasons in an effort to ensure a safe and sound environment for children.
