Nakri Storm has caused damages to the wiring system, knocking out electricity in some areas in Ninh Hoa Town and Van Ninh District, Khanh Hoa Province. Khanh Hoa Power staff had to work at full capacity during the night to restore power.
According to Khanh Hoa Power Company, Nakri Storm damaged the wiring system in some areas, especially in Ninh Hoa and Van Ninh, where medium pressure wires in Ninh Van Commune and Ninh Ich Commune were brought down, affecting 83 transformer stations, leaving 6,206 without power. The severe weather delayed repairs as it as incredibly dangerous for crews to deal with the breakdown in the location on the pass road Ninh Phuoc to Ninh Van.

In Van Ninh District, which was near the storm center, suffered more severe damage. Strong winds broke some medium pressure power electric poles at 2pm on November 10 in Dai Lanh Commune. 30 minutes later, power outage happened in Van Khanh Commune, causing blackouts to all 1,280 users. Besides, power outage was also reported in Vinh Hai Ward, affecting 9,500 clients involved in 28 transformer stations.
Nguyen Cao Ky, Director General of Khanh Hoa Power Company says, when the storm was going to make landfall, leaders of Khanh Hoa Power Company instructed its offices and divisions to implement approved response schemes, maintain round-the-clock service and prepare sufficient resources and equipment to deal with any emergencies caused by the storm.
Reportedly, Ninh Hoa Power staff were asked to deal with the electrical breakdown right during the night. However, the restoration work was hampered by the severe weather and forced to be paused by 9pm. The work continued early the following day and the power was restored to more than 6,000 customers in the 2 communes of Ninh Ich and Ninh Van by 10:30a.m.
Although there was more to do to deal with the electrical showdown in Van Ninh District, the power was restored to all local customers by noon November 11 thanks to great effort of all Van Ninh power management and operation staff.
The power restoration finished on the afternoon of November 11, assuring stable power supply for all customers in Khanh Hoa Province, adds Nguyen Cao Ky.
