Khanh Hoa Provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha holds many charity activities

Khanh Hoa Provincial Managing Committee of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Buddhist monks, nuns and the Buddhists across the province in recent years have done a lot of charity activities and contributed to build and strengthen the national ethnic unity.

Since 2012, the Social Charity Board of Khanh Hoa Provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has spent over VND137 billion on social activities, such as offering financial assistance to victims of natural disasters and patients having cataract surgery; giving medicine cabinets to Khanh Hoa General Hospital; building charity houses; offering scholarships to poor and good pupils; supporting the poor in paying health insurance; helping to improve life quality of the ethnic minorities; providing necessary equipment to some schools; and presenting gifts to the people with disabilities.
 
In the first six months of 2019, thanks to the charity activities of the Social Charity Board, 423 people were treated cataract; 8,000 prescription glasses were given to people having hypermetropia, astigmatism, myopia in Ninh Hoa Town, Van Ninh District, and Nha Trang. The board contributed VND4.2 billion for natural disaster relief. On the occasions of National Day, Lunar New Year, Vesak, etc., the board often visit and present gifts to the disadvantaged people in the province.

Apart from having taken part in charity activities, the worshipping temples in Khanh Hoa have adopted orphans, street children; looked after old people who live alone; provided vocational training classes for hundreds of orphans, people with disabilities, and poor people, and so on. At present, Khanh Hoa has five orphanages, three residential centers providing care for old people living alone, and three charity classes. 
 
Loc Tho Pagoda at first only adopted and looked after children who were abandoned; they afterwards opened free classes for poor children and orphans. 130 children are studying at Loc Tho Pagoda, from first to fifth grade. The children are also offered a free lunch by the pagoda. With the support from Vinh Ngoc Primary School, the children can continue their study at the local schools after they finish studying at Loc Tho Pagoda.
 
Khanh Hoa Provincial Managing Committee of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has also encouraged the Buddhists to do good things and not practice superstitious activities. 
 
According to Superior Buddhist Monk Thich Thien Phuoc, Chief Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Managing Committee of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the committee would continue to offer assistance to disadvantaged and needy people through social charity activities and would associate with the officials and units to implement social security and strengthen national ethnic unity. 
 
Reportedly, in lunar July, the committee will encourage the monks, nuns, and Buddhists to join the voluntary blood donation program of the provincial Red Cross.
