Khanh Hoa Youth Union- Khanh Hoa Students’ Association has just held a School Musical Band Festival for students from high schools, colleges and universities. The event provided an opportunity for young people to nurture their talents and potentials as well as create a cultural and musical environment for teenagers in Khanh Hoa Province.

The 2-day event festival was heartening and exciting with amazing and vibrant performances by 28 dance groups and musical bands. 24 members of the Unicorn dance group from Nguyen Van Troi High School enhanced the ambience with a flash mob dance with familiar foreign background music of Doreamon, handclap or Dreamteam.

The musical festival is a playground for art lovers.

Nguyen Nhat Cuong, a representative of the group says they have taken part in several contests at school level. This is the first time they have joined a provincial level contest. They had practiced 1 month before the event. “We are 1 of the 2 groups chosen by the school to take part in the festival. So we have prepared carefully for the performance. However, many other groups seem to be more professional. We need to practice more,” says Nguyen Nhat Cuong.

In the table for colleges and universities, there were more groups with variety of amazing performances, featuring emotional depths and feelings. The ultimate thrill given by a hip-hop show by Khanh Hoa Medical College was followed by an ironic romantic music of the song Careless Whisper played by SVUKH band from Khanh Hoa University.

“Bigshot dance group of Nha Trang University performed “Burn up the dance”. In the table for high schools, most of the performances were flash mob dance with modern foreign music, creating thrilling and exciting atmosphere. The festival is an opportunity for young people to not only meet and have fun but also learn experience and develop their interests and talents.

In spite of careful preparation and much practice effort, the band of Han Van Khanh, a final-year music student, Art Faculty, Khanh Hoa University, was regretful as his band could not win a higher prize because of some unexpected problems with his musical instrument. However, he and his friends learnt much experience from such events. “We have accumulated valuable experience from contests at school levels and higher challenges which help us to improve our performance. Therefore, we have founded the band to practice more efficiently and make more progress through contests,” says Han Van Khanh.

Reportedly, the musical festival is annually held as a playground for art lovers, dancing groups and musical bands. According to Bui Hoai Nam, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Youth Union, such events provide opportunities for students to meet and share their art and cultural interest, developing young generations’ healthy culture, physical health and great passion for learning, volunteering, contributing to the homeland construction. Such activities are good chances for musical groups and bands to take part in cultural and musical activities in response to provincial events, including the upcoming Sea Festival Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa.

At the School Musical Band Festival, the A prize was awarded to Nha Trang University Youth Union, Nha Trang Tourism College Youth Union (table for colleges and universities); Pham Van Dong High School Youth Union and Hoang Van Thu High School Youth Union (table for high schools). Besides, 4 B prizes, 11 C prizes and 9 Style Awards were presented.
