Food safety inspection boost

Under the direction of Khanh Hoa People’s Committee and Khanh Hoa Department of Health, Khanh Hoa Branch of Food Safety & Hygiene has built a plan on food safety inspection to serve the upcoming Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2017. 
 
The inspection will focus on food safety at food producing and processing establishments; restaurants, hotels and those dealing with potentially high-risk food commodities in the market in order to detect and prevent food borne illness risks.
 
Especially, the inspection will look at food service commodities and businesses with unusual or suspicious activities. The inspection will go along with food safety law education and propaganda to increase business owners’ awareness of food quality, safety and hygiene.
 
Specifically, inspection will include the check for business certificates, food safety certificates, health certificates, product labels, advertisement registration documents, product origin documents, materials, additives, manufacturing dates, expiry dates, animal quarantine declaration, etc.
 
Besides, inspection visits will be undertaken in food production, processing and trading premises to make sure proper hygienic conditions for food handling, storage, processing; sufficient facilities, etc. Besides, food samples will be taken and rapid food safety tests will be done to ensure the safety of product and conformity to food safety criteria.
 
The food safety inspection is expected to begin in late May and end on June 12, focusing on more than 30 food production, processing and food service businesses along Tran Phu Street, surrounding areas and venues where the festival activities are scheduled to take place.
 
Apart from the provincial inspection mission, district and town-level inspection will be also enhanced to ensure food safety and protect the public health in the localities, says Le Dinh Don, Chief of Khanh Hoa Branch of Food Safety & Hygiene.
