Traffic safety education will be provided at primary schools in Khanh Hoa Province in the beginning of the academic year 2015-2016. The educational program aims to raise awareness of road safety, develop traffic safety knowledge, attitudes, skills and behaviors in children.
Khanh Hoa Department and Training has had a document on traffic safety education for primary school children to provide guidance on using the resources and implementing an effective traffic safety education program, says Ha Van Thong, Chief of the Primary Education Division, Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training.
Educational curricula and materials may vary under the guidance of the department according to specific situations. Traffic safety education is scheduled to take place for six weeks from September 7 to November 16.
Schools are required to provide propaganda to boost traffic safety awareness among teaching staff, students and their parents; and mobilize students and their parents to sign pledges to abide by traffic rules, act safely and responsibly, including wearing safety helmets in an effort to foster a genuine partnership between home and school learning.
Before traffic safety lessons, schools will organize ceremonies to launch the month of traffic safety; and hang up banners and posters to increase traffic flow and ease traffic jams around schools.
In addition, theoretical education must be accompanied with practical classes. Extra curricular activities such as sightseeing tours, games, puzzles, etc related to road safety education are encouraged.
Besides, from the beginning of the school year, primary school children are urged to take part in the Internet-based smart traffic contest, which is designed to promote the knowledge of the traffic law, traffic culture and principles on dealing with traffic cases.
