That is the aim of the conference, which has just been held by the Khanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Associations of Science & Technique. Dozens of issues were put forward and suggestions on measures to solve the problem were given by scientists and managers.
The main purpose of the conference was to raise the public awareness of environmental protection. The Service of Natural Resources & Environment suggested many measures to conserve and control the environment through detailed projects such as removing fuel, chemical; machinery establishments likely to cause pollution and damage to the natural resources and environment out of Nha Trang City, enhancing State management and inspection over environment. Moreover, the province has to invest more in infrastructures, traffic, environment protection, application of advanced science and technique in natural recourses and environment protection, waste treatment, etc...
Some solutions to protect the environment for a stable development suggested by representative of Oceanographic Institute included building a strategy and plan on general management of the area surrounding the Bay, taking effective measures to control and treat waste, tackling potential problems arising during the development, raising the public consultative role in economic growth projects in coastal areas.
According to Pham van Thom, Sea Science-Technique Association, sand extraction from the riverbed near Vinh Phuong Bridge should be banned; the sea transgresses along the coast must be prevented, dust baskets should be offered to households living along the river bank far from the rubbish collection site; rubbish collecting nets should be placed, etc...Moreover, the province should speed up the project to improve the environment sanitation in Nha Trang City and breakwater of Cai River; evaluate carefully effect of projects on environment, and strictly follow the law on cultural heritage and environmental protection; plant more trees to restore forests around Nha Trang City; carry out environmental-friendly researches; apply advanced science and techniques in aquaculture to restore rare sea creatures in Nha Trang Bay; establish nature and environment protection association, etc...
