A couple of cheap trains on the line between Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi named TN1 and TN2 was put into service by Vietnam Railways on March 14. The trains depart daily at Ha Noi station and Sai Gon station at 10:05 and stop at 26 stations during their 41 hour itinerary.
A one way ticket of the cheap train from Ho Chi Minh City to Ha Noi including services and meals costs VND400,000. It is reduced to VND360,000 if the passenger is a student (only applied to hard chair tickets).
Passengers who are the old, invalids, Hero Vietnamese Mother or People Deserving Credit for Contributions during the Revolution can travel by the cheap trains in preferential price.
