Focus on controlling the quality of agro-forestry-fishery foods

At the end of the year, the inspection and supervision of food safety (food safety) of agro-forestry-fishery products in Khanh Hoa province was strengthened by functional sectors. At the end of the year, the inspection and supervision of food safety of agro-forestry-fishery products in Khanh Hoa province are strengthened by functional sectors, focusing on propagating and building a model of safe food supply; monitoring to promptly detect and handle violations.
 
According to Nguyen Ngoc Viet - Director of the Provincial Sub-Department of Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Management, during the 11 months of 2022, the sub-department organized 23 classes to propagate about food safety to hundreds of farmers, fishing boat owners, owners of agricultural, forestry and fishery production facilities, 3 training courses on replicating the VietGAP standard chain model and 2 training courses on VietGAP production process for farmers growing garlic, onions, vegetable and fruits; hang more than 250 food safety propaganda banners on roads. During the inspection and appraisal process at the facility, the sub-department combined propaganda with organizations and individuals producing and trading agro-forestry-fishery products about the provisions of the law, mobilizing livestock farmers, aquaculture applying biosafety farming solutions; ensure food safety during slaughter, preliminary processing, processing and trading of animal products; harmful effects of using banned substances in livestock…

Along with propaganda activities, the unit also promotes the replication of safe food supply chain models that meet VietGAP standards, such as: Ninh Dong safe vegetable, Ninh Van - Ninh Phuoc garlic (Ninh Hoa); green-skin grapefruits, mangoes, durians (Khanh Vinh); durians (Khanh Son); safe chicken in Cam Thanh Nam (Cam Ranh); safe spring rolls (Nha Trang - Dien Khanh); safe mangoes (Cam Lam); VietGAP seafood products for lobsters, snails, shrimps, and garlic (Van Ninh).
 
Nguyen Ngoc Viet said: “Up to now, the province has 21 confirmed safe food business locations, gradually becoming a familiar address for consumers of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products. From the beginning of the year to November 15, monitoring results of 67 product samples showed that 100% of samples met the requirements of food safety as prescribed. In addition, the unit continues to support certified food production and business establishments in using electronic traceability stamps which enable consumers check the origin of products quickly and easily by smartphone, tablet…”.
 
According to the leader of the provincial Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Management Sub-Department, the results achieved since the beginning of the year have contributed to improving the efficiency in the management and quality control of food safety of agro-forestry-fishery products, and raising awareness of compliance with food safety regulations of producers and traders. From now until the end of the year, the unit will strengthen inspection and supervision of food safety for agricultural, forestry and fishery products.
