Saving water for summer-autumn crop production

According to Le Ba Ninh - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the winter-spring rice crop 2020-2021, farming in Khanh Hoa province has favorable weather conditions, pest situation has been controlled. The whole province has sown more than 20,000 ha of rice, the average yield is estimated at 66 quintals/ha. Root crops are 3,109.8 ha, food crops 2,481.6 ha, annual industrial crops 10,921 ha.
 
According to the forecast of the hydro-meteorological station in the South Central region, from April to May, the total rainfall was 20 to 30% lower than the average of many years. From June to August, the rainfall is forecast to be 10-20% higher than the average of many years. Currently, the storage in reservoirs in the province has reached 70% on average. This amount of water ensures irrigation for the 20,000 hectares of summer-autumn rice crop.

To prepare well for the summer-autumn crop of 2021, on May 12, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has requested the districts and towns to zone production and conversion of crops.
 
The provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has also informed each locality and specific unit about the ability to ensure water sources, not to produce an area that exceeds the service capacity of irrigation works; to concentrate sowing in each area and each field to shorten the sowing time and save water for irrigation; to promote propaganda for people to use water; to  notify regularly the weather situation and water sources to adjust water supply and production; to organize the dredging of canals; to inspect, repair and renovate works.
