Coming to the farm with more than 6 hectares of green grapefruits in VietGAP model of farmer Dang Thai Luyen in Son Thanh village, Khanh Phu commune, we were impressed by the orchard of fruit trees here. Luyen shared, “After a long time researching and learning about the natural conditions and prospects of crops, in 2017, I invested in growing green skin grapefruits. This is the key crop of the district . It’s suitable to soil and climate, encouraged to grow. With the Khanh Vinh green skin grapefruit brand and the VietGAP-oriented production model, I have no difficulty finding markets for sale, the output is always as high as expected ”.

In the past, traditional crops of Khanh Vinh District were rice, corn, noodles and sugarcane, produced in a small scale. Their productivity, product quality, economic efficiency and land use efficiency are still low. Since then, the district has researched and determined suitable crop structure to develop with 4 main crops, including green skin grapefruit, durian, mango and jackfruit.

Along with the development of key crops, the district continues to maintain and develop production according to the model of a safe food chain with 85 hectares of 55 households certified for production according to VietGAP standards in recent years. ; to form a specialized green-skin grapefruit tree cultivation area and successfully built the collective mark "Khanh Vinh green-skin grapefruit", which was granted a collective trademark registration certificate by the National Office of Intellectual Property.

In the coming time, in order to develop key crops in depth, Khanh Vinh District is building a plan to implement the Project on restructuring the agriculture in the direction of increasing added value and developing sustainably until 2025, orientation to 2030; increasing the application of scientific and technical advances, technological innovation, using new varieties with high yield, quality, and resistance to pests and diseases.
