Credit for difficult communes helps locals rise

Van Ninh District has done well credit program for producing and trading households in six communes, namely Dai Lanh, Van Thanh, Van Tho, Van Long, Van Phuoc and Van Khanh. From the credit, hundreds of families have risen.

Tran Hiep’s family in Van Thanh Commune had been a poor house. In 2015, guided by the commune Farmers’ Association, he borrowed VND20 million from the policy fund for difficult areas to raising lobsters. With the loan, he made 5 cages raising 300 lobsters. After one year, he sold them and earned nearly VND100 million. Then, he continued expanding scale gradually. Up to now, he has 50 cages, raising more than 10,000 lobsters. From a poor family, they have good living now. He said, “Our current good life is owning to the starting capital and our working hard. We expect to expand to 70 cages in the time to come.”
 
Nguyen Van Hung’s family in Van Khanh Commune is also one of families earning thanks to a loan from the credit fund to raising chicken. His farm now has about 1,000 chicken for meat, 2,000 1-3 week chicken and more than 400 hens…At present, his family earns about VND100 million a year.

According to Nguyen Thanh Long, director of the transaction office of the Bank for Social Policies in Van Ninh District, credit balance in 6 difficult communes in the district has been over VND42 billion with more than 1,000 borrowers. The capital fund has worked well, helping families invest in breeding and farming to improve economy. Hundreds of poor households have been given loans to do farming and breeding, and then they have escaped from poverty. Now, more families have demand for lending from the credit fund. Therefore, transaction office has asked the Bank for Social Policies – Khanh Hoa Branch and the Central to add the fund.
 
According to Tran Ngoc Khiem, Vice-chairman of Van Ninh District People’s Committee, the credit foor difficult communes have helped many families borrow capital to do farming and breeding and improve living, which has partly reduced poverty and ensured social welfare in the district. In the time to come, the district will launch more lending funds to help more people.
