Nha Trang is a beach city famous for the beautiful landscape and tourist services. Recently, Mai Linh Corporation has launched a new service called motorized kite flying. This is the first time this thrilling sport has been put into service in Vietnam.
This new sports attracts a lot of tourists because it creates them a strange feeling like flying and a chance to contemplate the beautiful overall view of Nha Trang Beach City and Khanh Hoa Province. It’s also very safe when flying over sea.
The sports-designed kites with big swings, simple engine and materials imported from Italia are very easy and safe to steer. A kite has two seats, one for a pilot and another for a passenger. It can carry 400 kilograms and fly at an average speed of 70 kilometers per hour and 80 kilometers per hour is maximum. Passenger will be equipped with a safety helmet and headphones to direct the itinerary with the support of ground-based control. In case of problems, a rescue canoe will save passenger immediately. In the first time, the motorized kites are steered by a professional pilot team from Italia and France. Tourists who want to steer a motorized kite by himself or herself have to spend a theoretical course and practice for at least 10 hours if alone and at least 25 hours if carrying a passenger behind at Vietnam Aviation Academy in Cam Ranh District, Khanh Hoa Province. A 15-minute trip by motorized kite costs USD70.
General Director of Mai Linh Corporation Ho Minh Chau said, “I had a chance to fly motorized kites for the first time on a trip to California and I liked it very much. I realized that Khanh Hoa Province with a beautiful landscape, favourable weather and abundant tourist products is ideal for this new sport. It’s the reason I decided to invest in it”. Mai Linh also has a project to pour USD3 million into this service. The expenditure includes ten motorized kites, capital construction, pilot training and some others.
