Military-owned, Vietnamese mobile operator, Viettel Telecom just launches a pre-paid mobile service package specially designed for foreign travellers to Vietnam, called Tourist Sim.
Accordingly, Tourist Sim users are provided free with information about services, tourist spots, transport, hotels, taxi numbers, exchange rate, weather forecast by 5055 automatic server.
Tourist Sim is also attractive for its charges and usage duration. Foreign travellers can buy its cards worth USD5 or USD10. It only charges VND3,240/minute for international calls (equivalent to 18 cent, 10% less than other services) and VND2,160/message for international SMS (equivalent to 12 cent, 13.6% less than the current charges).
Tourist Sim users who want to continue the service can charge more money to their account by buying cards worth VND50,000, VND100,000, VND200,000, VND300,000 and VND500,000 with usage durations of 5, 10, 20, 30 and 50 days, respectively. Additionally, users are provided GPRS for free and are supported in English and Chinese through directory enquiries at 18008168.
“Vietnam receives around 4 millions foreign visitors a year and telecom service is very essential to them during their stay in Vietnam. It’s the reason Viettel launches a service for this group of clients only”, Viettel’s Deputy Director Nguyen Viet Dung said.
Tourist sims are widely sold at airports, tourist spots, hotels, resorts and so on.
