Vietnam Airlines has officially become a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the world biggest aviation association.

According to Vietnam Airlines, to become a member of the IATA, Vietnam Airlines had to pass a strict test on safe operation conducted by Aviation Quality Services. Vietnam Airlines also had to submit audited financial reports for the past two years in addition to get an International Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certificate, meeting hundreds of requirements of 8 fields of aviation.

As a member of IATA, Vietnam Airlines will have opportunities to get trade benefits and promote its trademark worldwide. In addition, the air carrier will have the right to access IATA’s database to search for and share information.

IATA was established in April 1945 in Havana, Cuba. Its headquarters now is in Montreal, Canada. This is the world biggest aviation association with 270 members, taking over 94 percent of international scheduled air traffic.

IATA membership brings Vietnam Airlines not only commercial benefits and image promotion, but also paves the way for Vietnam Airlines' future international expansion.
