Souvenir is a product indispensable for tourism. So, along with tourism development, souvenir market is also well – developed. In recent years, some pretty souvenir shops have come into being in Nha Trang.
For long time now, souvenir market in Nha Trang, especially souvenir specific for tourists has always been considered not corresponding to its potential yet. Except for XQ gallery, the majority of the souvenir shops are small ones. Objects are displayed for sale in disorder. Products are arranged in a spreading way, not centered so they are not eye – catching. Moreover, sale service stage is lack of specialization. In recent time, much more attention has been paid to the appearance of the souvenir shops than before. On Tran Quang Khai street, goods saleable for foreigners are silk, embroidered paintings, products made of bamboo, products typical for Vietnamese culture such as: statue, glass hurricane lamp – shade but the way of displaying them has become more specific and attractive than it was.
Unlike other shops, Qua Tao Go shop does not have as many products as others do but it is queer and strange – looking with hand – made sophisticated slippers, pretty flower – embroidered straps, silk handbags and oyster – inserted straps impressively arranged on walls and entrances.
Gom Tre shop, which has just been opened at Nguyen Thien Thuat Street trades only in pottery. It is diversified with fine – art pottery for interior decorations, red pottery and even Vinh Long pottery for external decorations. In addition to the present products such as pottery paintings, assorted clay vases, the company will soon introduce products to tourists like pottery necklace, traditional sacred animals.
However, the most original is Mua Thu Vang shop at 49 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street. With a new idea, its owner wants the shop to be a place where tourists both have a drink and enjoy art then they can choose something for themselves after learning and gazing at many times.
Souvenir here is mainly of handicraft with brocade, Ha Tay wooden sculpture, products from bamboo and a gallery with paintings of Viet Nam’s traditional style… All are carefully chosen.
The presence of these original souvenir shops has enriched the souvenir market in this tourist City.
