After about 1 hour’s going from Ba Ngoi Port to Cam Ranh Bay, you will arrive in Binh Ba Island. From here, it takes about one hour to reach Binh Hung Island, Cam Binh, Cam Ranh Town, Khanh Hoa Province.
Cam Binh has 3 villages, Binh Hung, Binh Ba, Binh An with a total area of 578ha and 4,700 people. Although not as long and wide as the beaches in Vung Tau, Mui Ne, Nha Trang, the beaches here are deserted and attractive.
Just some meters offshore, you can see coral reefs under your feet. Especially, there are rocks of various shapes and colours on the beaches. The cliff on Chuong Beach is like fine gold glistening in the sunlight.
It is said that 200 years ago, some fishermen from the central provinces of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen headed towards the island in a storm and decided to settle on this island as they found this place very beautiful.
Hon Co Mountain, Binh Ba Island, used to be a post of the French enemies with a firm defense system with four battery emplacements pointing to the four directions. Under the battery emplacements was a linked underground tunnel with dinning rooms, bedrooms, living rooms… Some years ago, the four battery emplacements were moved and the tunnel then was left deserted.
Taking a promenade along mountain trails full of palm trees with delicate fragrance, standing on the peak beholding the fine view of the sky and sea, listening to the waves tapping onto the shore, enjoying the glory of sunrise on the sea or the romance of sunset or going down to the sea contemplating the coral reefs... makes you feel like being in a paradise.
In this island commune, there is no asphalted road, so there is no motor bike. In the morning walking on the island, you will be offered “can” cake like “khot” cake in southern Vietnam but it is processed with seafood. A sunset sitting together enjoying dried squids is really unforgettable. With some dry branches of trees for a camp fire and a guitar, you can experience an interesting night on the beach, singing and dancing with the islander
Many lobster cages are dropped around the island. Every household has 10 cages on average. Some rich households can have 50-60 cages. The island residents lead a comfortable life like city-dwellers with elementary schools, a high school, amusement places, markets and shops.
If adequately invested, Cam Binh will become an ideal eco-tourism resort where you can go fishing hunting at sea, swimming, boating, diving beholding fabulous coral reefs and enjoy relaxing treatment.
