The Central Propaganda Department has just organized a seminar on promoting the positive cultural values of ethnic groups and religions. In addition to acknowledging the achieved results in Khanh Hoa Province, the delegates pointed out the difficulties in preserving and promoting the values of cultural heritages in the province and proposed solutions for this matter.

In recent years, Khanh Hoa has paid attention to the preservation and promotion of cultural values of ethnic groups and achieved positive results. For example, Khanh Son District acknowledged the grave-leaving ceremony of Raglai people, which was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage. Many types of folk culture are maintained through public art festivals, Raglai folk songs festival, cultural day of ethnic groups, contests about cultural heritages. The district focused on restoring traditional festivals such as new rice ceremony, wedding ceremony and thanksgiving ceremony. The district finished the production of 10 sets of lithophone (stone musical instrument) in 2021 and opened lithophone classes for local young people in 2022. The district is also collecting and displaying more than 100 artifacts bearing the cultural and historical values of Raglai people; encourages and creates conditions for artists to sing, tell folk songs, epics, and perform traditional musical instruments.

According to Dang Quoc Van, deputy director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, from 2017 to 2022, the department has built up a plan to repair and prevent deterioration for more than 60 monuments, 30 of which were renovated with a budget of more than VND35 billion collected from tourism activities at monuments and scenic sites, etc.

However, there are still some difficulties in preserving and promoting the values of cultural heritage in the province, for example limited funding for restoration and embellishment; some types of intangible cultural heritages face the risk of extinction, especially traditional art. The connection of cultural and tourism activities has mainly been implemented at Ponagar Temple and Hon Chong tourist site.

At the seminar, the delegates proposed many solutions to continue promoting the cultural values of ethnic groups in the current period. The preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values in Khanh Hoa have been connected with each other and contributed to the promotion and diversification of tourism products in the province, according to Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai, deputy director of the Propaganda Department (Central Department of Propaganda). The province has focused on preservation and promotion of festivals, costumes, voices, and cuisine of ethnic groups of ethnic groups. In order for the preservation and promotion to be implemented more effectively, it is necessary to strengthen propaganda on policies of the Party, State and the province on developing national culture to arouse the public’s love, pride and responsibility for preserving cultural heritages.

In the future, the province’s culture sector will focus on researching and clarifying the values of cultural heritages; formulating and perfecting mechanisms and policies to attract and mobilize resources for preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values; ensuring harmony between preserving and promoting cultural heritage values and socio-economic development.
