Cultural rendezvous

With the wish to offer local people and tourists a cultural rendezvous on Tet days, the provincial Museum holds a special program with many activities taking place from January 11 to 26.

Inside the museum, visitors can contemplate the collection of nearly 1,000 seashells of Dong Luong Son, chairman of the Association of Admirers of Dr. Alexandre Yersin. The collection includes seashells of various sizes, shapes, and unique colors that he has collected for decades. Most of the seashells are of the creatures that live in Khanh Hoa’s waters. The involvement of painters Mai Thi Vanh Khuyen and Dinh Thanh Hai in arrangement makes the collection more impressive.

An outdoor photo exhibition featuring beautiful images of people, landscapes, customs, and life of peoples in ASEAN Community is organized from January 11 to 28. The museum grounds are also the venue for an Ao dai show, folk games, and paper lantern making. This year, the museum continues to hold the “warm-hearted pot of banh chung, banh tet” program. An antique takes place on January 26, offering an interesting rendezvous for people who are interested in learning, exchanging and improving knowledge about history and culture through ancient objects.

Connecting community

In recent years, Khanh Hoa Museum has paid more attention to public contribution and community connection to organize exhibitions and other cultural activities at the museum. As said by Nguyen Thanh Phong, director of the museum, due to its limited facilities, the museum has encouraged public contribution to create useful and meaningful activities for the public. On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2023, the museum has cooperated with individuals and organizations to hold diverse activities for local people and tourists.

The special Tet program opening recently of Khanh Hoa Museum offered painter Mai Thi Vanh Khuyen (lecturer of Faculty of Arts, Khanh Hoa University) an opportunity to introduce her ideas and creativity to the public. Nguyen Thi Phuc (Green Nha Trang Club) said that 50 “banh Tet” offered by the provincial Museum through the “warm-hearted pot of banh chung, banh tet” program are meaningful gifts to the club’s members, who are disadvantaged women infected with HIV.

According to Nguyen Van Thien, director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, the fact that the provincial Museum has cooperated with individuals and organizations to hold various activities on Lunar New Year days is a remarkable effort. The cooperation has helped to connect community to create cultural activities to attract people to the museum and help it become a familiar destination for locals and visitors.
