After nearly one year of resuming normal activities, Khanh Hoa Provincial Center of Culture and Cinema has made some changes to improve the quality of its street art shows. However, in order to hold these shows regularly, it requires the financial support from the province as well as proactive approaches of the center

Making changes to street art shows

The provincial Center of Culture and Cinema recently organized a street art show in front of the provincial Conference Center (46 Tran Phu Street, Nha Trang City). In more than 60 minutes of the show, the singers, dancers and instrumentalists of the art clubs under the center performed animated music with many performances about the beach city of Nha Trang. Many people came to see the performances despite rain. “I like songs about Nha Trang very much so I lingered on the show in spite of rain. In my opinion, it is suitable to organize street art shows here because they not only serve recreation needs of people in the province but also help to attract tourists,” said Nguyen Quoc Nam, a resident in Nha Trang.

Reportedly, since the beginning of 2022, the provincial Center of Culture and Cinema has made some changes to the organization of its street art shows based on the feedback of spectators and experts. For example, the center changed the venue for street art shows from the park opposite Tue Tinh Street to the area in front of the provincial Conference Center. The stage, sound and light equipment for the shows are bettered. The art clubs adjusted the content of the shows and arranged the frequency of modern music performances and traditional ones. The shows are organized with separate themed. It is estimated that each show attracts about 300 to 1,000 audience.

Since the beginning of the year, the provincial Center of Culture and Cinema has organized 55 out of 81 street art shows. Although the changes made to the shows have improved the quality of the shows and received good respond from local people and tourists, they have troubled the center with financial difficulties. The allocated funds for street art shows so far are suitable for the new form of the shows, which require much investment in facilities and equipment. These difficulties have partly affected the preparation and investment for the performances.

As said by Nguyen Van Thien, director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, street art shows need to be maintained and their quality and forms of organization also need to be improved. The department has proposed the provincial People’s Committee increase funds for street art performance activities. In the long term, the provincial Center of Culture and Cinema needs to be active and proactive in carrying out public contribution for the funds.
