Live videoconference "Aspirations for the Blue Ocean" conveys messages of peace and sustainable development

In response to World Ocean Day (June 8) and Vietnam Sea and Island Week (June 1 to 8), the Central Propaganda Department in cooperation with the General Department of Politics of Vietnam People's Army has directed Military Radio and Television Center (Vietnam National Defense television channel) to organize a live videoconference under the theme " Aspirations for the Blue Ocean".

The videoconference is organized in Hanoi and Khanh Hoa Province (Cam Ranh International Port) at 8pm on June 28. It is expected to see the participant of the leaderships of the Party, State, ministries, central and local sectors. The program will be broadcast live on Vietnam National Defense television channel and relayed on essential national and local television channels, etc.
 
- What is the meaning of the program?
 
- Under the theme "Aspirations for the Blue Ocean ", the program aims to affirm the important role of the sea to human life, thereby helping to raise people's awareness about protection, preservation and promotion of the values of sea and island resources and environment. The program also aims to affirm that Vietnam is a sea country with an eternal desire to conquer the sea and maintain peace on sea; affirm Vietnam’s great potential of sea economy and its determination to develop sea economy comprehensively in parallel with protecting sea and island resources and environment; and show Vietnam’s will to protect the national sovereignty and legitimate interests at sea.
 
- What are the content of the program?
 
- The program consists of two parts: Vietnam is a sea country and Vietnam joins hands for a peaceful and sustainable ocean. Especially, at the videoconference point in Hanoi, the leaderships of the Party and State will give speeches affirming Vietnam's efforts in protecting and promoting sea potentials and developing well thanks to sea. The speeches will also convey the message of Vietnam's commitment on respecting and complying with international law, on exploiting sea and island resources sustainably, and on contributing to maintain peace and stability of the region and the world.
 
The videoconference includes screening of reportage about Vietnamese people’s love for sea and islands and their solidarity at sea; process of environmental research and sustainable exploitation of seas and oceans; protection of sea environment, etc. The videoconference will feature the participation of experts, researchers and officials, including Nguyen Tan Tuan, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; Associate Professor and PhD Nguyen Chu Hoi, former Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) and Standing Vice Chairman of Vietnam Fisheries Association; Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Thi Thuy Duong, Deputy Director of the Institute of Tropical Ecology (Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center), and so on. Besides, there will be performances of music by Symphony Orchestra of Vietnam National Opera and Ballet and many well-known Vietnamese singers.
 
During the videoconference, Naval Command, Coast Guard Command and Border Guard Command will offer gifts to fishermen to encourage them to reach out to sea; Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center will present photos of Vietnam's rich and beautiful sea to primary and junior high schools to help to foster love of sea and islands in students.
