In order to create conditions for the province’s artists to maintain their work and produce spiritual products to serve the public during the outbreak of COVID-19, Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports has planned to film and broadcast some art programs on Khanh Hoa Radio and Television (KTV) and social media platforms.

Proposing to broadcast 13 programs

Due to the complicated evolution of the COVID-19 outbreak, many cultural and art programs and events have been suspended or cancelled; entertainment places have also halted their operation. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism directed the Department of Performance Arts to work with 12 theaters under the ministry and cooperate with Vietnam Television and Voice of Vietnam to produce stage and music programs to broadcast live on the radio, television and social media platforms. Vietnam Tuong Theater and Viet Bac Folk Music and Dance Theater are the two first units selected to carry out the form of television theater and online theater on the evening of July 27.

Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports has directed the provincial art units to make the list of art programs, stage extracts and short dramas and coordinate with KTV to film and broadcast them. Hai Dang Song and Dance Troupe proposed five music programs with broadcasting duration of 30 to 45 minutes. These programs were originally planned to be held this year but have not been produced or postponed due to COVID-19. The provincial Traditional Art Theater proposed four stage extracts, two of Tuong (Vietnamese classical drama) and two of Bai Choi. These are the impressive extracts staged by the theater recently, including an extract that won gold medals at some national theater festivals. The provincial Cinema - Culture Center suggested two fashion-music programs with the participation of many amateur artists in the province and two short dramas about anti-corruption and COVID-19 prevention and control.

Art units actively respond

The idea of producing art programs to broadcast on television and the Internet has been actively responded by the province’s artists. As said by Hoang Yen, director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Traditional Art Theater, the proposed extracts of the theater have good quality of art and have been highly rated by experts. Producing art programs to broadcast on television and the Internet is a good way at present, helping artists to have opportunities to be on stage and contributing to promote the traditional art. This is also an opportunity for the theater to introduce new artists to the public.

Tran Duc Ha, head of Hai Dang Song and Dance Troupe said that broadcasting programs on KTV and social media platforms is very necessary, especially amid the current outbreak of COVID-19. The artists and performers of the troupe have hoped that the idea will be implemented as soon as possible. The related processes will be carried out in compliance with the pandemic regulations.

Reportedly, KTV and the art units in the province discussed and agreed on some programs, implementation time, funds sources and forms of implementation. Based on this, the provincial Department of Culture and Sports submitted the idea implementation to the provincial People’s Committee. If being approved, the idea will be implemented. Besides screening the programs on its channels, KTV can broadcast them on its radio, website, app, and fanpage.
