The performing art clubs under Khanh Hoa Provincial Culture-Cinema Center have been a place for the amateur artists in the province to show their passion for music. The activities of the performing art clubs have contributed to improve the spiritual life of the public and promote the development of the public art movement in the province.

Working industriously

The Culture-Cinema Center has strived to overcome the impacts posed by the COVID-19 pandemic to maintain it operation and support the activities of its performing art clubs. In 2020, the center formed four new clubs namely Acoustic Music Group, Black Eagle Band, revolutionary song club, and Zone Five Bai Choi Club, increasing the number of clubs under the center to 20. “Our band, although newly established, has taken part in many shows of the center. The performances help satisfy our love of rock music,” said a member of Black Eagle Band.

Last year, the performing art clubs under the provincial Culture-Cinema Center took part in many music shows held by the center, such as cultural and music activities welcoming New Year, public art festival, and music contest about soldiers. The clubs’ artists also performed in 81 Bai Choi games at the beach park and 81 street music shows opposite Tue Tinh Street, Nha Trang City. They also helped to arrange repertoire and stage performances for the music shows of the agencies in the province. Each club has its own style of music and performance, which helped to enliven the shows and entertain the audience.

Continuing to develop

Apart from street music shows, last year, the performing art clubs under the provincial Culture-Cinema Center took part in many events celebrating major anniversaries and festivals of the country and province. The clubs also held many shows to introduce their new repertoire.

According to musician Le Minh Dao, head of Music Club, over many years, the operation of the performing art clubs has proved its effectiveness; therefore this model needs to be promoted. He hopes that there will be a place for the club’s artists to practice regularly and that the music club is provided more opportunities to cooperate with other clubs in order to improve the artistic quality of music shows.

The establishment and development of performing art clubs are associated with grass roots cultural and art movements. Therefore, in 2021, the center will focus on holding activities in other localities besides Nha Trang. The center will also propose that the provincial Department of Culture and Sports increase the budget and improve the money policy for the center’s collaborators. The proposals aim to better the quality of the cultural and art activities.

Nguyen Tuan Thanh, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, highly appreciated the operation of the performing art clubs under the Culture-Cinema Center. In order for the clubs to work more effectively, the center needs to create favorable conditions and foster their strengths as well as cooperate with the local culture centers over the province to create more activities for the artists.
