Intensifying management of Hoa Diem Archaeological Monument

Cam Ranh City People's Committee (Khanh Hoa Province) recently held a meeting to listen to the report of the city's Bureau of Culture and Information on the management of Hoa Diem Archaeological Monument (Cam Thinh Dong Commune) to ensure that land management and land acquisition at the site are carried out in accordance with the directive of the Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism.
 

Cam Ranh City People's Committee (Khanh Hoa Province) recently held a meeting to listen to the report of the city’s Bureau of Culture and Information on the management of Hoa Diem Archaeological Monument (Cam Thinh Dong Commune) to ensure that land management and land acquisition at the site are carried out in accordance with the directive of the Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism.
 
At the meeting, the committee requested the Provincial Monument Conservation Center send a document stating the cost of building the monument’s fence and gate to the committee so that the committee would propose the implementation of the project of fence construction and land acquisition. The committee also assigned Cam Thinh Dong Commune People's Committee to be the investor of construction work and project related to land acquisition in the area
 
Hoa Diem Archaeological Monument includes four locations: Hoa Diem, Hoa Diem 2, Go Duoi, and Go Mieu; was discovered in February 1998 and was first excavated in 1999. Afterwards, Khanh Hoa provincial museum has cooperated with Institute of Archaeology, Vietnam National Museum of History, Archaeological Center of Southern Institute of Social Sciences and some Japanese archaeologists to carry out many excavations and researches at this monument. 
 
Through researches, scientists confirmed that Hoa Diem is a monument of residence and burial, dating from the fifth or the sixth century BC to the first or second century AD. According to archaeologists, Hoa Diem Archaeological Monument has special scientific values, especially in the study of prehistory and protohistory in Khanh Hoa Province in particular and Southern Central region in general.
 
This monument was recognized as a nation-level monument in 2014.
