In nearly ten years, the beach park opposite Tue Tinh Street (Nha Trang) has become a familiar venue for street music and art shows in the city. This place often becomes more vibrant on weekend nights or occasions of sea festival or Lunar New Year thanks to the music and performances of singers and dancers. The stages of these street performances are not designed with sophisticated equipments. There are nights when singers and musicians do not perform on stage but stand near audiences, which highlights the street style of these shows and helps to create inspirational moments and interesting experiences for both artists and audiences. “I and my husband often take a walk along the beach and go to this park to watch street performances. Lively music, casual atmosphere and performances of many genres of music help us to have enjoyable and relaxing time,” said Tran Huyen Thanh Trang, Nguyen Thien Thuat Street, Nha Trang.

In order to bring diverse genres of music to locals and tourists, Khanh Hoa Provincial Culture-Cinema Center has alternated the schedules of its music and art groups. Audiences can enjoy modern and vibrant music performed by the singers and dancers of Young Singer Club, My Friend and Windy; international songs performed by Black Eagle group; and folk music of Vietnam. From lunar January 1 to 10 of Lunar New Year 2020, there were several music and art shows being organized at the beach park. Louise Elizabeth Ellings, a tourist from Australia, said she had watched two street music shows. It was interesting to watch performances of Vietnam’s folk songs; to exchange and dance with the singers. Those experiences made her days in Nha Trang to be more interesting.
The artists, singers and dancers also feel happy to perform at street shows and receive good responses from audiences. Musician Ngo Quoc Viet of Black Eagle said, “I have performed at street art shows for three years. What I like most when performing here is the close interaction between performers and audiences as well as the cheer from audiences at a close distance. I feel comfortable to perform to the best of my ability at the street shows.”
Nguyen Dang Ha Giang, singer of Black Eagle, has learned a lot of performing experience in four years singing at street shows. She loves interacting with audiences. She often sings international songs, so she can connect with and learn from foreign audiences.
Reportedly, in 2019, Khanh Hoa Provincial Culture-Cinema Center held 81 street shows, which were actively responded by locals and tourists. The street shows have offered opportunities for the artists, singers and dancers to show their ability and improve their performance and skills. The center will hold more street shows in 2020 and will sign with music groups and clubs in order to increase the quality of their street performances.
