Besides the modern elements, Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2019 also included a large number of cultural festivals honoring the beautiful values of traditional cultural heritages, for example unicorn-lion-dragon dance festival, cai luong (reformed theatre) performances, ritual dance expressing gratitude to Mother Goddesses, quan họ (love duets) and Nghe Tinh folk song singing, demonstration and exhibition on pottery-making and brocade-making techniques of Cham people, folk games, bai choi singing, Whale Worshipping Ritual, performances of folk songs of three regions in Vietnam, etc.

Within the framework of Visit Vietnam Year 2019, Khanh Hoa Museum held an exhibition about the beauty of Khanh Hoa, the land of aloe wood. People visiting the exhibition could contemplate an ao dai collection, aloe wood products of Van Thang trade village, documents about Dr. Alexandre Yersin, and so on. The participants at the festival of cultural villages held by the provincial Department of Culture and Sports showcased their dexterous skills in making traditional crafts, performed traditional music items, and played many folk games.

Apart from the cultural events organized by Khanh Hoa Province, the locals and tourists in Nha Trang could learn more about the traditional cultural features across the country through other events held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourist. It was the first time in the beach city of Nha Trang, many intangible cultural heritages of humanity in Vietnam recognized by UNESCO such as the practices related to the Viet beliefs in the Mother Goddesses of Three Realms, Quan Họ Bắc Ninh folk songs, Bai Choi singing, Đờn ca tài tử music and song in southern Viet Nam, etc. have been performed at the same period.

The ceremony was an extravaganza of art and music performances. Next, the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition (under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) displayed 100 photos of 20 artistic photographers across the country. Vietnam Culture-Art Exhibition Center organized an exhibition on Vietnam’s heritages of sea-island culture and tourism held at Khanh Hoa Conference Center. The exhibition exhibited precious photos of Vietnam’s sea and islands, ancient maps, royal documents of Nguyen dynasty about the Spratly and Paracel Islands indicating the sovereignty of Vietnam over sea and islands. The Ministry of Information and Communications combined with Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee mounted the exhibition on photos and reportage - documentary films in the ASEAN community. Miss Universe Vietnam 2019, one of the main events celebrating the Visit Vietnam Year, was successfully organized in Nha Trang recently.

The Visit Vietnam Year is a good opportunity to honor the values of the tangible and intangible cultural heritages as well as to show the cultural integration of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa. Through the activities of national tourism year, an image of a land full of dynamism, positive development and integration has been presented to many people in the country and from abroad.
