Vietnam will join the World Trade Organization (WTO) as its 150th member on January 11, the Geneva-based trade body announced on December 12.
Vietnam has completed 11 years of entry negotiations. Vietnam's legislature ratified on November 28 the entry to the WTO, clearing the final hurdle to become a WTO member. The signing ceremony of the protocol on Vietnam's WTO entry was held in Geneva on December 7.
The ratification deposited with the WTO on December 12 automatically becomes effective 30 days later. Vietnam will officially become join the WTO.
