On June 3, Le Huu Hoang - Standing Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee; Roy Kho - Consul General of Singapore in Ho Chi Minh City and leaders of the Department of Tourism, Vietnam Airlines, Central Airport Authority and Cam Ranh International Airport organized to welcome the Singapore - Cam Ranh flight. This is the first flight connecting Singapore with Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa, opening up many opportunities for the tourism.

According to a representative of Vietnam Airlines, flight VN692 carrying 160 passengers departed from Singapore at 11:30 am (local time) and landed at Cam Ranh at 12:50 am. Vietnam Airlines has opened Cam Ranh - Singapore route with a frequency of 2 flights/week. Flights depart from Cam Ranh on Tuesdays and Sundays and from Singapore on Fridays and Sundays. Currently, Vietnam Airlines has 5 routes connecting Singapore with major cities of Vietnam. Previously, on June 1, Vietnam Airlines operated two more routes between Da Nang - Singapore and Phu Quoc - Singapore, opening up new and attractive options for passengers when connecting famous coastal cities. In addition, in order to contribute to connecting tourism and trading of Khanh Hoa province with international destinations, Vietnam Airlines will operate the route Nha Trang - Seoul (Korea) from July 1, 2020 with a frequency of one trip a day.

Passengers flying from this route are tourists not only from Singapore but also from Europe and America traveling in Singapore who want to connect to Vietnam and Nha Trang. This is an opportunity not only for the airline but also for travel agencies. Currently, many Singaporean tourists as well as tourists transiting in Singapore are ready to travel to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa for 5 - 7 days.
According to a representative of the Department of Tourism, the number of international visitors to Khanh Hoa in the first five months of the year hit 31,826, an increase of 74.69% over the same period last year, with 150,692 staying days, an increase of 104%. Average occupancy in 5 months was estimated at 16.8%. Therefore, besides domestic tourists, the tourism of the province will aim key international tourist markets with close distance, early recovery and potential.
Le Huu Hoang said that Cam Ranh's first flight from Singapore has opened up many prospects in tourism cooperation between the two sides. In particular, the event was attended by the Vietnamese Ambassador in Singapore and the Singapore Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, demonstrating the cooperation and the connection of the two countries. The Singapore - Cam Ranh flight route is the beginning and also a great opportunity for Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa to attract international tourists. In the opposite direction, travel agencies in Khanh Hoa can organize tours to bring domestic tourists to Singapore.
The reopening of international routes in general as well as direct flights from Singapore to Khanh Hoa in particular, is a favorable condition and makes an important contribution to restoring tourism and trade activities and promoting international exchanges and cooperation after 2 years of being affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. Khanh Hoa province is strengthening connectivity to exploit a variety of tourist markets, including the Singapore market.
