On January 24, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presided over and coordinated with the Vietnam Tourism Association, the Research and Development Board of the private economy and the Tourism Advisory Board to organize a workshop on the roadmap and solutions to reopen international tourism.
 
The event, both virtual and  face to face, was chaired by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung with the participation of leaders of many central and local ministries and agencies. Le Huu Hoang, Standing Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended the event in Khanh Hoa.
 
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, since early November 2021, Vietnam has piloted the program to welcome international visitors via tour packages to Phu Quoc (Kien Giang Province), Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Da Nang and Quang Ninh. Up to January 23, Vietnam received 8.500 international tourist arrivals, mainly from Russia, South Korea, Singapore, the U.K, U.S.A and Canada to Phu Quoc, Kien Giang Province, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam. Of those, Khanh Hoa welcomed 7,000 tourists.

Speaking at the workshop, Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism would propose that the Government should continue implementing the roadmap and solutions to reopen international tourism as follows. The pilot program phase 2 continues from now until the April 30; and then international tourism resumes fully from May 1 for both inbound and outbound tourism in the context of the new normal.
