Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee jointly with Russia’s Saint Petersburg City held a virtual workshop on cooperation promotion between Khanh Hoa and Saint-Petersburg on September 29.
The event was presided over in Khanh Hoa by Le Huu Hoang, Central Party Committee Member, Standing Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee and in Saint-Petersburg by Kalganov Vyacheslav Gennadievich, Vice-Chairman of Saint-Petersburg City Commission for Foreign Relations. The workshop was also attended by Sadykov Timur Sirozhevich, Russian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City; and Duong Hoang Minh, Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of Vietnam in Russia.
Since the cooperation relationship in 2007, Khanh Hoa and Saint-Petersburg have suggested cooperation in various sectors in which the two localities have strength such as tourism, health care, scientific research, education, etc.

Prior to the pandemic, Khanh Hoa received over 460,000 Russian visitors, accounting for 70% of international arrivals to Vietnam in 2019. Exports from Khanh Hoa to Russia, including Saint-Petersburg have been coffee, garment, seafood, wooden furniture, etc.
Le Huu Hoang expressed the hope that workshop would contribute to further strengthening the cooperation relationship between the two localities, meeting residents’ needs and interests, especially cooperation in the fields of tourism, culture, health care, education, etc.

Kalganov Vyacheslav Gennadievich confirmed Saint Petersburg would continue promoting the sustainable relationship with Vietnam in general and Khanh Hoa in particular through the program "Comprehensive strategic partnership - new prospects for cooperation"; especially the cooperation with Khanh Hoa on research and treatment of cancer and oncology. He also hoped that from now to the end of November 2021, the 2 partners would build a specific cooperation roadmap; and invited Khanh Hoa enterprises to take part in the Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum scheduled to take place at the end of 2021.
