Khanh Hoa Province Department of Tourism is consulting the provincial People's Committee to develop documents to submit to the provincial People's Council to issue a resolution on support policies to develop community tourism in the period of 2021 - 2025. The province is expected to spend more than 13.6 billion VND to support community-based tourism in Ninh Hoa, Dien Khanh, Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh.

Khanh Hoa Province has a beautiful natural landscape with traditional cultures. Currently, residential communities still retain many activities, handicrafts, cuisine, unique festivals such as fish prayer rite in the coastal villages, new rice celebration of Raglai people, worshiping of Ede people... According to the tourism experts, Khanh Hoa has many potentials and advantages to develop community tourism. However, in reality, the community based tourism in the province is still quite little.

According to PhD. Pham Bich Ngoc (Center for Socio-Economic Development Research under the Vietnam Economic Science Association) - leader of the scientific research project "Model of sustainable tourism development with the participation of the community in Khanh Hoa”, Khanh Hoa has only 2 localities (Ninh Van commune in Ninh Hoa town and Dien Xuan commune in Dien Khanh district) that have community-based tourism. In Ninh Van, some households have accommodation services, dining combined with visiting garlic fields and national relic area to commemorate ship C235. In Dien Xuan, Nhan Tam Ecotourism Service Co., Ltd. has cooperated with 20 farming households to open the kind of visiting to learn rural areas and agriculture like local fruit specialties.

According to the Department of Tourism, it is estimated that up to now, the community-based tourism in Khanh Hoa has only about 100,000 tourists/year; revenue from community-based tourism and services is about 30 billion VND/year. This number is still small compared with the potential of the province.

According to Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Tourism, besides resort tourism, the province has an orientation to develop tourism to the west, especially ecotourism, community-based tourism ... In order to meet the needs of tourists to explore the life and local cultural experiences of tourists, improving the quality of existing community tourism destinations and developing new ones in urban, rural and mountainous areas of the province is neccessary. Besides, the development of community-based tourism will contribute to raising awareness of protecting environmental resources, preserving indigenous culture, creating jobs for people, etc ... to contribute to the sustainable rural development.

The Department of Tourism is consulting the Provincial People's Committee to make documents to submit to the Provincial People's Council to issue a Resolution on a number of policies to support community-based tourism development in the period of 2021 - 2025. In which, priority is supporting community tourism in Ninh Van commune (in Ninh Hoa) and districts of Dien Khanh, Khanh Vinh and Khanh Son. It is expected that in the period of 2021 - 2025, the province will spend more than 13.6 billion VND to support the development of community-based tourism in the above localities.

According to the draft, this amount will be supported for the community-based tourism sites to install signs and signposts, better toilets, equip homestays, rebuild folk arts, traditional trades, build tourist products ... to serve tourists. At the same time, a part of the budget will be spent to support training and fostering knowledge and skills to serve tourists, popularizing community-based tourism products such as making video clips, printing of brochures, leaflets, travel handbooks ...
