The Covid-19 has had a strong impact on consumer behavior. Therefore, tourism must have a change to adapt to new trends, in which safety must be on top.

Adapt to new trends

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just sent an official document to the local tourism industry to continue its domestic tourism stimulus program with the theme Vietnam as a safe and attractive". Before that, Khanh Hoa tourism has also had activities to stimulate tourism demand for the second time with the main target of local tourists, notably the program "Khanh Hoa people travel in Khanh Hoa".

According to Tran Minh Duc - Deputy Director of Long Phu Tourist Joint Stock Company, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Travel Association, Covid-19 has a strong impact on behavior of customers. Concerned about the diseases, tourists tend to travel in small groups, families more than to travel in large groups like before. Visitors are also afraid to move too much, so travel businesses must also find ways to adapt to the new trend. Currently, travel businesses have switched to organizing tours which are short and not far. In the recently launched tours, in addition to familiar destinations such as Doc Let, Monkey Island, Hon Mun, Khanh Hoa Travel Association has also launched new programs such as relaxation and golf experience at KN Paradise Cam Ranh, discovery in Kong Forest, countryside experience in Dien Khanh. At present, travel businesses are focusing on local tourists firstly, then other provinces and cities.

Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Tourism said that as the current trend, tourists want to go to quiet places, close to nature for relaxation and health care. Khanh Hoa has many coastal resorts, very suitable to advertise and attract domestic tourists in the current period. In addition to Vietnamese tourists, tourism businesses should target foreigners who are experts and laborers who have been working in Vietnam since before the Covid-19 epidemic.

According to tourism experts, one of the biggest problems of the current tourism is to change the way of communication and promotion of tourism services. Looking for tours through technology applications have become a trend. Therefore, the way businesses communicate to customers must change, products must follow the new trend that people feel safe and bring more personal experiences.

Communication about safe destination

The second outbreak of Covid-19 outbreak in Da Nang and some localities made many people realize that the fight against the epidemic would last. Therefore, although the epidemic has been controlled, people are still hesitant to travel. The financial difficulty makes most travel companies dare not book as much and early as before.

In the dispatch launching the domestic tourism stimulus program in the last months of 2020, the Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism also asks tourism businesses to establish stimulus alliances to attract tourists, creating products with good prices, applying safe measures to prevent epidemics and promoting communication on safety. In the coming time, the Department of Tourism will hold a conference to discuss solutions to recover tourism after Covid-19. The department will also participate in the Vietnam International Tourism Fair - VITM Hanoi 2020 (scheduled to be held in mid November) and combine to organize the Khanh Hoa tourism promotion program in the pedestrian street in Hanoi with the theme "The call of Nha Trang sea".
