Overcoming the impacts of COVID-19, Khanh Hoa Province successfully organized its 9th Provincial Sports Festival in accordance with the plan.
Until August 23, all of the 15 sports tournaments of the festival were completed. Khanh Hoa’s 9th Provincial Sports Festival gathered 1,288 players, 225 referees and 240 coaches of 8 localities and units (provincial Police, provincial Military Headquarters, provincial Department of Education and Training, provincial Youth Union) in the province. More than 3,000 people attended the opening ceremony of the provincial festival. 100% of the commune-level and district-level sports festivals took place as scheduled, joined by more than 50 thousand players. Many folk games and sports were incorporated into the festivals.

Reportedly, the communes and districts had repaired and built 25 sports facilities to prepare for the 9th Provincial Sports Festival with a total expense of over VND4.3 billion, including VND245 million funded by public contributions. 19-8 Nha Trang Stadium had been renovated with a total expense of over VND7 billion supported by public contributions.
Khanh Hoa’s 9th Provincial Sports Festival was successfully organized thanks to effective propaganda activities and active respond of the participating localities and units. The investment in sports facilities of the localities and units also contributed to the success of the festival.
However, the quality of the festival was affected by the impacts of COVID-19. The localities had to change their organization plan many times according to the evolution of the pandemic. Some sports events (martial arts, badminton, table tennis, Chinese chess, event for the elderly) were reduced in scale, partly affecting the quality of the festival and local sports movement.
At a meeting of the steering board of the provincial 9th Sports Festival, Dinh Van Thieu, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, highly appreciated the efforts of the units and individuals to successfully organize the 9th Provincial Sports Festival while coping with the impacts of COVID-19. Thieu also directed the sectors and localities to pay more attention to the organization of public sports activities; promote public contributions to raise the quality of the movement sports activities of football, Chines chess, swimming, and chess to attract more participants; keep boosting “All people practice physical exercise following great Uncle Ho's example in 2021-2030 period” movement in the province.
