The 2022 National Volleyball Championship – Duc Giang Chemicals Cup is played in Ninh Binh Province and Vinh Phuc Province. Sanest Khanh Hoa are in men’s Group B with Ho Chi Minh City, The Cong, Lavie Long An and Border Guard, playing in Vinh Phuc. This group is regarded as a tough one because most of the teams in the group are very strong. The change in format of this year’s tournament has made the competitions more exciting. According to the new rules of Vietnam Volleyball Federation, the 2022 tournament only has one group stage, and the participating teams can play with foreign players. Therefore, the competition for the top positions is expected to be fierce.

The opponent of Sanest Khanh Hoa in their first match was Ho Chi Minh City, a very strong team. Both sides wanted a win to have point advantage in the competition for the top position in the group. Sanest Khanh Hoa launched their strongest squad with quality players such as Trieu Chieu, Tu Thanh Thuan, Huynh Trung Truc, Xuan Tan, Thai Hung, Pham Quoc Du, Dinh Nhu, and Australian player Freeze Phillip. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City also fielded their best players, especially, Wanchai Tabwises, a well-know player in Thailand.
 
In the first two sets, the athletes of Ho Chi Minh City played energetically with Wanchai proving to be very dangerous with his smashes over net. Ho Chi Minh City won the sets with the scores of 25-23, 25-23. In the third set, Ho Chi Minh City continued to take the lead, causing Sanest Khanh Hoa players to gradually lose motivation. Coach Bui Quang Ngoc of Sanest Khanh Hoa made changes to some positions, which proved to be timely and effectively. Sanest Khanh Hoa gradually played better and finally won the set at 25-23. The win settled the nerve of Sanest Khanh Hoa players and helped them to perform more and more confidently. The excellent performances of the defensive line and two hitters Trien Chieu and Tu Thanh Thuan helped Sanest Khanh Hoa win the last two sets at 24-21 and 15-8 to defeat Ho Chi Minh City 3-2 on aggregate.
 
Sanest Khanh Hoa will meet The Cong on July 7, Border Guard on July 8 and Lavie Long An on July 9.
