Khanh Hoa Newspaper made an interview with Ngo Minh Tu, chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Yoga Federation, about this event.

- What are the meanings of the International Yoga Day? What has Khanh Hoa Provincial Yoga Federation planned to response to the date?

Yoga originated in India. Yoga exercise and poses help to improve physical and mental health. People who do yoga need to have patience and discipline to have the sense of union of body and mind. Acknowledging the benefits of yoga, in 12015, the United Nations proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga to encourage people over the world to practice yoga.
Since 2015, many provinces and cities in Vietnam often organize activities to respond to the International Day of Yoga. Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa is one of the localities which often hold mass yoga session with the participation of a lot of locals and tourists. This year, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has directed the provincial Department of Culture and Sports to make plan for the responding activities. Based on the plan, 1,000 local people and tourists have been encouraged to take part in a mass yoga session jointly organized by Khanh Hoa Yoga Federation and Nha Trang City People’s Committee. The session will be instructed by five to ten yoga teachers. On June 25 and 26, the federation and Cam Ranh City People’s Committee will hold the first provincial yoga championship in Cam Ranh City. About more than 100 yoga practitioners from the districts, towns, and cities across the province will participate in the championship.

The event aims to promote the relations between Khanh Hoa Province and the Embassy of India in Hanoi and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and between the people of Vietnam and India in general on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India (1972 - 2022). Besides, it is hoped to boost the cultural exchange activities between Khanh Hoa Province and India. Through the event, people in Khanh Hoa are expected to acknowledge more benefits of practicing yoga so that they will actively do outdoor exercise to improve physical and mental health. The mass yoga session will be filmed to promote the beauty of Nha Trang beach at dawn.
